Fujairah Book Fair Now Sparks Reading and Creativity Boom!

  • The second Fujairah Children’s Book Fair successfully hosted over 11,000 enthusiastic visitors.
  • Fifty-two local and international publishing houses participated, offering diverse children’s books.
  • Workshops addressed modern themes, including the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
  • The Dibba location ensured easy access, reinforcing Fujairah’s commitment to community culture.

Over 11,000 families, students, and culture lovers flocked to the Dibba Exhibition Centre for the second edition of the Fujairah Children’s Book Fair, confirming its status as a major regional cultural event. From October 26 to November 2, the fair became a buzzing hub of learning, imagination, and community building, showcasing 52 local and international publishing houses. This enthusiastic turnout proves the emirate’s clear focus on early childhood development and nurturing a lifelong love for reading, connecting the community around knowledge and creative pursuits.

The success of the fair is a testament to Fujairah’s vision for cultural growth, supported by the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. The organizing committee intentionally blended traditional values with necessary modern lessons, a trend reflecting global discussions on raising digital-native children.

A standout moment was the workshop on Ethics in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. Trainer Basmah Freihat stressed the importance of teaching children to use AI technologies as a learning aid, not a source of ready-made answers. This proactive approach ensures children develop strong creative thinking skills while learning to use technology responsibly for social benefit.

Complementing this modern focus were events firmly rooted in the local culture:

  • Emirati Folklore: Author Anwar Al Salami captivated audiences with Al Kajouja and Umm Al-Duwais, instilling positive moral values drawn directly from Emirati heritage.
  • Local Environment: The Flowers of the Emirates workshop introduced children to the beauty and heritage of local plants, strengthening national identity through natural connection.

H.E. Dr Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Chairman of the Organising Committee, noted that the strong participation “highlighted Fujairah’s growing national cultural presence,” positioning the emirate as a nurturing hub for creativity and childhood focus.

The fair was specifically designed to be highly interactive, a factor that parents and visitors widely praised. Instead of simply browsing books, children engaged in creative and reading workshops, interactive coloring sessions, and the Lost Book competition, which fostered essential research and critical thinking skills through play.

The enthusiastic participation, especially from students and families, reinforces organizers’ confidence in continuing this event as an annual platform. H.E. Nasser Mohammed Al Yammahi, Executive Director of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, highlighted the community value, stating that the strong attendance proved that reading and knowledge were seen as key drivers of development. By choosing Dibba as the host city, the fair ensured accessibility for visitors from all parts of the emirate, underscoring its community-first approach.

The successful conclusion of the fair, marked by cultural performances and awards, sets the stage for future editions that promise to be even more innovative and inclusive.

The Fujairah Children’s Book Fair has firmly cemented its role as a crucial platform for fostering a love of reading and critical thinking in the younger generation. Join the movement to promote culture and education in the UAE.
