Global Village Celebrates Diwali with Five Days of Festivities and a Spectacular Drone Show!

From a traditional Baithak to Indian street food, Dubai’s festive favourite brings families together.

  • Diwali Mela pairs festive shopping, rangoli activities and Indian street food.
  • Global Village celebrates Diwali from 6 to 10 November in Dubai.
  • 600 drones create Diwali-inspired patterns above the Stunt Arena, November 8.
  • First-ever Baithak invites visitors to sing along with South Asian performers.

Some of the best Diwali evenings involve a little bit of everything: picking up decorations, sharing plates of chaat, letting children get creative and staying outside long enough to watch the sky light up. Diwali at Global Village brings these familiar festive pleasures together in Dubai from 6 to 10 November, with cultural activities, live music and a spectacular drone display planned for the celebrations. There’s plenty to explore.

For families planning a November outing, the Diwali Mela offers a chance to browse traditional decorations, thoughtful gifts, snacks and sweets at the Commercial Activation area, in collaboration with India Pavilion. Along World Avenue, decorative lamp posts will add a festive glow, while Happy Diwali signboards offer colourful backdrops for family photographs. Bring the camera.

At Kids Corner, younger visitors can try diya colouring, rangoli making and Diwali-themed face painting, turning festival traditions into hands-on fun. Parents can browse the market while little ones get creative. It’s a festive outing for all ages.

A familiar song can bring a whole group together, even when not everyone knows the words. On 6 November, Global Village will host its first-ever Baithak, a traditional South Asian musical gathering where guests can sit in an intimate setting, sing along and interact with performers. The session, organised with City FM, runs from 8pm to 9pm on the Main Stage.

The following evening, 7 November, brings interactive games and opportunities to win prizes, giving friends and families another reason to linger between the pavilions. Then comes the big visual moment. At 8pm on 8 November, 600 drones will fill the sky above the Stunt Arena and Syria Pavilion with formations inspired by Diwali and its celebration of light.

The scent of spices and the first bite of something tangy can be as memorable as the evening’s entertainment. Visitors can stop at Indian Chef and Grand Dhaba for Indian dishes, then explore the Indian Chaat Bazaar, a lively food street inspired by the atmosphere of a big Indian wedding. Come hungry.

Expect pani puri, chaat, pav bhaji, chole bhature, desi noodles and a tempting selection of mithai. It’s easy to turn a quick snack into a full food crawl, especially when everyone wants to try something different.

With Dubai’s wider Diwali calendar bringing cultural celebrations and family activities across the city, Global Village offers one place to combine festive shopping, South Asian music, food and a drone show. All Diwali experiences are included with the regular entry ticket. Check Global Village’s official website or app for ticket details, then plan an evening that leaves room for one more snack and one more look at the lights.
