A new lane is making one residential route faster, smoother and easier to navigate.
- A third lane increases road capacity across Al Mizhar 4.
- Journey times are expected to fall by around 25%.
- The upgrade improves access between Tunis and Amman Street.
- Nearby Muhaisnah residents also gain smoother road connectivity.
Morning school runs, grocery trips and the familiar evening drive home can make small stretches of road feel surprisingly important. In Al Mizhar traffic, a few extra minutes can shape the rhythm of an entire day. A newly completed RTA upgrade is now changing that experience, adding a third lane along more than one kilometre between Tunis Street and Amman Street.
Anyone driving through Dubai’s residential communities knows the difference a single lane can make, particularly around busy periods when school traffic, local errands and commuters all meet on the same road. In Al Mizhar 4, RTA has expanded the existing two-lane stretch to three lanes. That adds 50% more capacity. The result is a more open drive.
For residents heading from Tunis Street towards Amman Street, the change is especially practical. RTA says journey times on the upgraded section have been reduced by 25%, which can make a noticeable difference during a weekday school run or the evening trip home. Less waiting helps. More movement matters.
The benefit also extends beyond the immediate stretch of road. Drivers living in Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah and neighbouring communities gain easier access to surrounding residential areas and Dubai’s wider road network, making everyday connections less dependent on slower internal routes.

There is a wider idea behind the upgrade too. RTA has been using targeted traffic solutions across Dubai’s residential areas, focusing on specific bottlenecks rather than waiting for large-scale road projects to solve every local problem. Earlier this year, its completed road connections project covered 18 residential areas and included traffic enhancements, with some locations recording journey-time reductions of up to 40%.
That approach is particularly relevant in neighbourhoods where traffic patterns can change quickly. A road that feels quiet at 10am can look completely different around school pickup or the evening rush. RTA says it continuously monitors traffic patterns and road performance to identify locations where targeted improvements are needed.
For Al Mizhar 4, the next consideration is keeping through-traffic away from quiet residential streets. RTA is studying a “Rat Running” project that would discourage vehicles from using internal neighbourhood roads as shortcuts, with traffic management solutions tailored to each community. That could mean fewer unexpected cars passing through streets built primarily for residents.
The change is easy to understand from behind the wheel. A wider road, shorter queues and better links can turn a frustrating local trip into an ordinary one.
That is the real win. With the Al Mizhar 4 upgrade now complete, residents can expect smoother movement between Tunis Street and Amman Street while RTA continues working on practical traffic solutions across Dubai’s neighbourhoods!
