Seventeen years after its debut, one of Dubai’s most iconic attractions is making a seismic splash. Atlantis, The Palm’s aquarium has been completely transformed into The Lost World Aquarium, set to officially open on Monday 27 October. This isn’t merely an upgrade; it’s a total reimagining that merges fascinating marine habitats with cutting-edge technology, creating Dubai’s only dedicated marine-themed entertainment destination.
The heart of The Lost World Aquarium lies in its commitment to total immersion. Using a bespoke combination of audio-visual technology, the attraction extends the underwater environment far beyond the exhibits themselves. Visitors are surrounded by synchronized light, sound, and projection mapping across 14 interactive themed rooms. Over 1,900 LED panels and 55 high-powered projectors work in harmony to transport guests into a fantasy-based underwater world, guided by an original score composed exclusively for the attraction.
This transformation is rooted in hands-on technology. The optional Interactive Trident, a take-home souvenir, is a revolutionary piece of design that places control directly in the guests’ hands. This device unlocks more than 20 additional experiences, allowing users to awaken ancient artifacts, reveal secret messages, and trigger multi-sensory effects throughout the exhibits. It appeals to the tech enthusiast and the adventure-lover by turning the visit into a personalized quest.

While the spectacle is breathtaking, the innovation serves a larger, critical purpose: ocean awareness and conservation. Every marine habitat now features interactive digital displays to make learning about the 430 new marine animals and 35 new species accessible and fun. The aquarium proudly operates as an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), adhering to the gold standard in animal welfare. Guests can also learn about the Atlantis Atlas Project, the cornerstone of the hotel’s sustainability efforts.
Adding an entirely new dimension of live entertainment, The Lost World Aquarium debuts a spectacular mermaid show, Return of the Trident. Performed multiple times daily in the massive, 10-meter-deep Ambassador Lagoon, the production features a dedicated division of five professional underwater performers. With advanced breath-hold skills and choreographed movements, this international cast elevates the attraction from a viewing experience to a full theatrical event.
The aquarium is part of the larger Aquaventure World, featuring the world’s largest waterpark with 105 slides. Visitors can purchase standalone tickets to The Lost World Aquarium from AED 105 for adults, or combine it with the waterpark from AED 380.
The Lost World Aquarium is the future of marine entertainment, offering the perfect blend of technological thrill, educational depth, and magical live performances.
Bookings are now open for the grand launch on October 27th. Secure your tickets now via the official Aquaventure World website!
