In a continued effort to champion sustainability and reduce food waste, Wagamama has announced the extension of its highly successful “Wasteless with wagamama” campaign until the end of September. Initially launched in June to coincide with World Environment Month, this initiative encourages customers to embrace mindful consumption and sustainable practices, offering both environmental benefits and exciting rewards.

Wagamama’s innovative campaign centers around the use of specially designed Tupperware, available for just 12 AED in-store. These reusable containers not only provide a practical solution for taking leftovers home but also offer customers a 10% discount on their bill whenever they dine in and take away food using their Wagamama Tupperware. This simple yet effective initiative is a win-win, promoting eco-conscious habits while making sustainable dining more accessible.

Adding an element of fun and motivation, Wagamama introduces the “Waste-less Competition.” Customers who purchase the Tupperware and use it at least five times between June and September are automatically entered into a draw to win 1,000 AED worth of meals. The more you use your container, the better your chances of winning, turning sustainable practices into rewarding experiences. The lucky winner will be revealed on 30 September 2024.

Food waste is a pressing issue in the UAE, with around 1,000,000 tons generated annually. Through initiatives like “Wasteless with wagamama,” the restaurant aims to contribute to the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051, which seeks to position the country as a leader in sustainable food practices. The campaign has already shown promising results: 750 Tupperware boxes sold, 388.8 kg of CO₂ emissions reduced, and 720 kg of food scraps rescued in just two months.

Ankitha Rajendaran, Marketing Director at Wagamama, emphasizes the brand’s dedication to the Japanese principle of kaizen—continuous improvement.

“The ‘Wasteless with wagamama’ campaign is more than just an initiative; it’s a reflection of our commitment to sustainability and community. We believe in creating a culture of non-waste and inspiring others to join us in making a positive change.”

Wagamama invites everyone to participate in this impactful campaign, reinforcing the importance of mindful consumption and waste reduction. Together, we can make a significant difference in our community and the environment.
