World Arthritis Day Dubai Brings A Powerful Call To Act Early!

A free Dubai event brings experts, patients and practical wellbeing sessions together.

  • Dubai’s World Arthritis Day event focuses on recognising symptoms early.
  • Patients can meet specialists and hear real stories of resilience.
  • Tai Chi, dance and nutrition sessions bring practical support.
  • Free community event takes place at Shangri-La Hotel Dubai.

A stiff morning can easily be blamed on a bad night’s sleep, a long day at the desk or simply getting older. Yet persistent pain, fatigue or restricted movement can sometimes point to something that deserves closer attention. World Arthritis Day Dubai returns on 24 October with a message that feels particularly relevant: don’t wait for symptoms to take over your routine before seeking help.

A pen slipping from your hand or struggling to open a jar can feel like a minor inconvenience until everyday tasks start becoming patterns of difficulty. Rheumatoid arthritis, for example, can affect writing, walking and other routine activities, while early diagnosis and treatment can help reduce symptoms and the risk of disability.

That human side sits at the centre of the Middle East Arthritis Foundation’s annual event at Shangri-La Hotel Dubai. Patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals will share the same space, with conversations moving beyond symptoms towards work, movement, mental wellbeing and living confidently with a chronic condition. It’s about real life.

Morning sessions will bring medical expertise into the room, including discussions around current arthritis treatment and navigating pregnancy with rheumatic disease. For women planning families, that guidance can be especially valuable. The programme makes space for questions that don’t always fit neatly into a standard consultation.

Then comes movement. Tai Chi, accessible dance and other low-impact activities will show attendees that staying active doesn’t have to mean pushing through pain. Suitable exercise can help maintain mobility and strengthen muscles, while personalised medical advice remains important for managing arthritis safely. Small movements count.

Food gets a place at the table too. A clinical dietitian will lead a practical nutrition workshop, connecting everyday food choices with joint health and giving attendees ideas they can take home rather than another list of complicated rules. That’s the kind of advice that survives beyond an event.

Mental wellbeing also gets its own space through sessions focused on resilience, pain and emotional health, followed by sound therapy. For someone dealing with unpredictable flare-ups, fatigue or anxiety, having a room where those experiences are understood can matter as much as another medical fact.

There will be lighter moments too. The #RMDreams Poster Competition invites participants to turn personal goals and experiences into creative posters, with attendees choosing their favourites before the winners are recognised. Dreams get a visual form.

Taking place from 8am to 4pm on 24 October, the free event offers Dubai residents a chance to learn, ask questions and connect without the atmosphere of a formal clinic. For anyone living with persistent joint symptoms, supporting someone who is, or simply wanting to understand arthritis better, registration is worth making before the day arrives!

All sessions are free to attend. To participate in the event, please register on https://arthritis.ae/wad.
