Off Campus Prime Video Now Delivers the Best College Romance Series of 2026!

Elle Kennedy’s beloved hockey romance has been adapted for Prime Video and all eight episodes dropped at once. Clear your Thursday evening accordingly.

  • Off Campus premiered on Prime Video on May 13, 2026 with all eight episodes at once
  • Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli lead as Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham of Briar University
  • Season two was greenlit in February 2026 before the first season even premiered
  • Critics are calling it a perfectly predictable delight, which is exactly the point

Off Campus on Prime Video arrived on May 13 with all eight episodes dropped simultaneously, which is either an act of generosity or a deliberate attack on the productivity of every BookTok reader who has been waiting for this adaptation since Elle Kennedy’s The Deal first broke their heart a decade ago. Either way, the episodes are there, the couch is calling, and the only responsible thing to do is review it honestly before you commit your entire weekend to it.

The good news: it is very good at being exactly what it wants to be. At the core of what makes Off Campus work is the fact that this cast has insanely good chemistry with each other. Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli, in particular, might convince you of love at first sight. Though Garrett is far from a brooding Brontë lead, there is a certain seriousness and gravitas that Cameli employs with the character that gives him far more depth than his teammates. Bright’s Hannah is full of life and glows when she is on-screen. Their nickname situation, he calls her Wellsy because her last name is Wells, is the kind of detail that should be unbearably precious and somehow is not at all.

What the Show Gets Right and What It Does Not Quite Nail

Tropes are at the core of Kennedy’s books, and the reason they are so beloved is that they give readers exactly what they want. From fake dating to opposites attract, the translation of her tropes to the screen is faithful and Prime Video’s series knows right where to lean in. The adaptation has made some changes from the source material, Logan now has a non-binary sibling named Jules rather than brothers, but the spirit of the books is entirely intact. This is a show that knows its audience, respects them and gives them what they came for without embarrassment.

The eight-episode first season does beautifully convey the emotions and concerns of young adults. Unlike many young adult shows where parental figures seem to exist outside the frame, here they are very much part of the lives of these characters, for better and for worse. The juxtaposition between Hannah’s parents and Garrett’s home life is clear, and their origin stories directly inform their present circumstances. That grounding is what elevates Off Campus above a straightforward campus romance. These are people shaped by where they came from, and the show takes that seriously.

The delightful Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn stand out in the supporting cast, shining brightest this season, considering the saga revolves around the entire group. Antonio Cipriano as Logan, the womanizing hockey star with considerably more going on beneath the surface, is already the character the internet has decided to care about most deeply, and Season 2 cannot come soon enough for that storyline.

The honest caveats: the overall narrative is predictable. By the end of Episode 1, viewers can see how the story will end. Along with some tepid plot points, the dialogue feels choppy at times, with characters speaking in half-thoughts that detract from the narrative’s intensity. The Hollywood Reporter called it winningly sweet while acknowledging tonal shifts that do not always land. These are real notes. They are also the notes that anyone who has read and loved the books will shrug off entirely, because predictability in a romance is not a flaw. It is the architecture. You always knew how it was going to end. You came for the feeling of getting there.

Season 2 was greenlit in February 2026 before the premiere, which tells you everything about how confident Amazon MGM Studios are in this one. If The Deal is the warmup, The Mistake, The Score and The Goal are waiting. The Briar University universe has been officially opened.
