In a groundbreaking move, Amsaan Accessible Tours (AAT) has introduced “Travel with Bova,” a unique initiative designed to provide guided tours conducted entirely in sign language. This project, debuting from the UAE, aims to revolutionize the travel experience for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, offering them an immersive and inclusive way to explore the world.
Spearheaded by Volodymyr Bozhko, affectionately known as Bova, a seasoned Deaf tour guide with over 15 years of experience, “Travel with Bova” is set to offer bespoke tours that cater specifically to the Deaf community. Bova’s extensive expertise spans various countries, from the USA and China to exotic islands and Southeast Asian nations, making him the perfect guide to lead these innovative tours. Joining him is Dmytro, another expert guide who has visited over 50 countries, ensuring that the tours meet the highest standards of accessibility and enjoyment.
The vision behind “Travel with Bova” is clear: to create accessible travel experiences that break down barriers for Deaf travellers. By conducting tours in International Sign Language, AAT ensures that participants can fully engage with and appreciate the cultures they visit. This initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader goals of inclusivity and accessibility, promoting cultural exchange and understanding between the Deaf and hearing communities.
“Travel with Bova” will initially cover destinations in Europe and Japan, with upcoming tours to the Canary Islands in August, Madeira and the Azores in September, and a combined tour of Egypt and Jordan later in the year. Future plans include expanding to additional destinations like Finland, Thailand, Germany, and more. AAT also aims to incorporate other sign languages and develop tours for individuals with various disabilities, ensuring top-quality, inclusive travel experiences for all.
Amsaan Accessible Tours is not just about travel; it’s about creating a community and fostering independence among Deaf travellers. By offering these specialized tours, AAT encourages the travel industry to recognize and cater to the needs of the Deaf community. Additionally, the company plans to host the Deaf Festival in Dubai in December 2024, further demonstrating its commitment to inclusive tourism.
CEO Alex Koltsov emphasized the impact of this initiative:
“The launch of ‘Travel with Bova’ sets new standards in accessible tourism. We are excited to meet and exceed the expectations of Deaf travellers, creating lasting impacts in the travel industry.”
