A morning routine in Dubai can move quickly, from the first coffee to a packed commute, with fragrance often becoming the final spritz before heading out. But perfume layering offers another way to begin the day, turning scent into a more personal ritual. Hamidi explored that idea at IMMERSEE in The Sustainable City, where its Close to Skin experience connected Arabic perfumery with wellness and self-expression.
The familiar scent of oud, the softness of rose and the warmth of amber have long been part of the region’s fragrance culture. At Hamidi’s October 9 gathering, these traditional ingredients became part of a conversation about wearing fragrance in a more individual way. The approach felt considered. Rather than treating perfume as a finishing touch reserved for dinner plans or special occasions, the experience explored how it could fit into everyday self-care.
Guests moved through five stages: Move, Reset, Discover, Layer and Personalise. A 40-minute guided yoga session opened the morning, followed by a sensorial sound experience before the fragrance activities began. There was time to slow down. Hamidi’s Scent Rituals Kit helped guests explore the process, while a Make Your Own Perfume Oil station gave each person a personalised 10 ml blend to take home.

Choosing a scent can feel different depending on the day, the weather or even the plans ahead. Hamidi brought that flexibility to life through Alya and Maysara Eau de Parfum, alongside Gulnar and Samaa Concentrated Perfume Oils. Each offered a different starting point for layering, allowing fragrance notes to interact and develop on the skin. No two combinations need to feel alike.
The collection follows Hamidi’s skin-first approach, using non-alcoholic fragrances inspired by the materials of Arabic perfumery. Oud, musk, sandalwood, incense and precious resins sit alongside fresh citrus, fruits and florals. The contrast matters. For UAE residents who enjoy wearing fragrance from morning meetings to evening gatherings, the idea is to build a scent that feels personal rather than relying on one signature bottle for every occasion.
The setting added small details to the experience, too. Guests encountered 0% alcohol wellness shots, branded coconuts and premium Hamidi gifts alongside the interactive self-care activities. The mood was relaxed. The format connected scent with the quieter parts of a wellness routine, rather than the rush of getting ready before stepping out.
Building a personal fragrance ritual doesn’t have to end with a one-off event. Hamidi’s Scent Rituals Kit, featuring eight variants, is tentatively expected to become available from December 2026. The brand’s Alya, Maysara, Gulnar, Samaa and other best-selling fragrances are available through its website and selected UAE retail partners.
For fragrance lovers curious about layering, Hamidi’s approach offers a reason to look beyond the usual spray-and-go routine. Start with the notes you already love, experiment with combinations and let the scent settle. Your everyday signature can be personal!
