In a resounding commitment to sustainable transportation, BMW AGMC, in partnership with Dubai Autodrome – a subsidiary of Union Properties – has unveiled a groundbreaking move by installing 20 cutting-edge Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. Positioned at the UAE’s premier multipurpose motorsport and entertainment facility, this initiative marks a significant leap towards fostering a green mobility landscape. AGMC stands as the exclusive importer for BMW Group in Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.

The newly established charging stations are strategically aimed to support BMW’s VIP e-mobility fleet designated for use during the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) hosted in the UAE. Beyond the summit, these stations will continue to serve BMW AGMC customers, ensuring ongoing access to convenient and eco-friendly charging facilities. All 20 EV charging stations are powered by Dubai Autodrome’s monumental 2.8 MWp solar power project, a testament to their commitment to renewable energy.

Ayhan Olcer, Managing Director of Albatha Automotive Group, the parent company of AGMC, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Dubai Autodrome. He highlighted, “The installation of 20 EV charging stations at Dubai Autodrome signifies our pursuit of accelerating the shift towards emission-free mobility in the UAE. Our vision for sustainability propels this initiative, reinforcing our dedication to offering eco-conscious solutions for cleaner and greener transportation.”

As the appointed VIP E-mobility provider for COP28, BMW Group exemplifies leadership in fostering sustainable transport solutions. The brand’s array of advanced electric models, including the BMW iX, iX1, BMW i7, and the BMW iX5 Hydrogen, will exclusively serve VIP guests and dignitaries during the climate summit.

BMW’s active participation in climate events aligns with its pledge to achieve complete climate neutrality by 2050, adhering to the Paris Climate Agreement’s directives aimed at curbing global warming.

The installation at Dubai Autodrome constitutes a pivotal addition to BMW AGMC’s Destination Chargers project, commenced in 2023. This initiative aims to construct a comprehensive network of EV chargers across the UAE. Over 100 EV chargers have been successfully installed this year, enhancing convenience for BMW’s electric vehicle customers, with plans for further installations in 2024.

Faisal Al Sahlawi, General Manager of Dubai Autodrome, voiced pride in the collaboration, stating, “Dubai Autodrome is honored to partner with BMW AGMC in championing sustainable mobility infrastructure in the UAE. These charging stations not only cater to electric vehicle owners but also position Dubai Autodrome as a venue endorsing world-class motorsport facilities alongside promoting sustainability in the automotive industry.”

With a vision to introduce around 10 million fully-electric vehicles globally by 2030, BMW Group underscores its commitment to advancing electrification and sustainability across its operations. The BMW Group’s proactive stance in developing charging infrastructure exemplifies its holistic approach to sustainability along the entire value chain.
