THE FEATURETTES: THE BIRTH OF A NEW CINEMATIC UNIVERSE & THE BEGINNINGS OF BRAHMĀSTRA

Brahmāstra – the Trilogy, is a three-part film franchise and the beginning of India’s first original universe The Astraverse.

It is a new original cinematic universe inspired by deeply rooted concepts and tales from Indian history but set in the modern world, with epic storytelling of fantasy, adventure, good vs evil, love and hope; all told using cutting edge technology and never-seen-before visual spectacles.

Our story is set in modern-day India, against the premise of a secret society called the Brahmānsh; who generation after generation have protected many divine ‘Astras‘ (weapons) that were created in ancient India, and safe-guarded from the eyes of the world. The most powerful and the deadliest amongst these divine weapons, the Lord of all the Other Astras, the BRAHMĀSTRA, is now waking up, threatening to completely destroy the universe we know today.

Brahmāstra: Part One, is the story of Shiva – a young man and our protagonist, who is on the brink of an epic love, with a girl named Isha. But their world is turned upside down, because Shiva learns that he has a mysterious connection to the Brahmāstra and a great power within him that he doesn’t understand just yet – the power of Fire

In this movie, we experience Shiva’s adventures as he journeys into the world of Astras and in turn, discovers his destiny as the divine hero of the universe.

THE LOVE ANTHEM OF THE YEAR ‘KESARIYA’ AND THE SOUL OF BRAHMĀSTRA ‘DEVA DEVA’ NOW OUT

Deva Deva
Kesariya

As the audience waits for Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva with bated breath, every teaser, be it the song, the movie, or the latest concept video about ‘The World of Astras’, justifies the hype around the movie.

On one hand, shot in the ghats of Varanasi, Kesariya is one of the most-awaited songs of the year, launched in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The romantic number has been sung in Hindi by none other than Arijit Singh, whose deep and soulful vocals breathe life into the melodious composition by the much-loved composer, instrumentalist, guitarist Pritam.

Actress Alia Bhatt adds, “For me, Kesariya is a feeling that one experiences when they are happy and content with something. It was the first glimpse from Brahmastra Part One: Shiva and it holds a special place for me and the entire crew. The song draws me in whenever I listen to it, and I’m sure that the song will touch the hearts of the audience.”

Director Ayan Mukerji says, “We all love the sizzling chemistry of Ranbir and Alia in the song, which hints at the strong bond they share. Fans all around the world have celebrated Ranbir-Alia’s love through the teaser, and I am very sure, the full track will surpass everyone’s expectations.”

Singer Arijit Singh speaks on singing the track, “Kesariya marks an important milestone as a romantic song in the Indian Film Industry. Pritam da’s tunes and Amitabh’s lyrics have been ethereal to begin with. I just did my part and I see Ranbir and Alia create absolute magic with the song on screen. Kesariya will stay in people’s hearts for sure.”

With lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the team presents an ageless romantic track that puts a smile on your face as you see the lead cast, Ranbir-Alia, in the vibrant and colourful backdrop. The song has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.

After the phenomenal global success of Kesariya that topped all musical charts for three weeks in a row, Deva Deva, the much awaited “Soul Of Brahmāstra”, is out now! This second track from the album is sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi, written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and Music by Pritam

‘Deva Deva’ pulsates with spirituality and a distinctly upbeat rhythm. The song encapsulates the magical moment in the film where Shiva, played by Ranbir Kapoor, finds the power within. The powerful lyrics of the song have a unique blend of love and devotion as Shiva, the protagonist discovers his majestic abilities of fire. The song is pivotal to Shiva’s character development in the film and does absolute justice to the concept of ‘Love, Light and Fire’.

Actress Ranbir Kapoor adds, “I thoroughly enjoyed the song, and could relate to it on so many levels personally. The song makes one feel spiritually powerful with a rare ease, and I hope everyone feels and enjoys it as much as I did.”

Director Ayan Mukerji says, “I don’t think there could have been a better time to release the song than on Shravan Somvar. The auspicious occasion just syncs with the captivating melody of the song and the spiritual visuals of Ranbir’s character – Shiva, exploring his fire power.”

Pritam said regarding the music composition, “Brahmāstra’s album has made me think aloud in terms of bringing in spiritual elements within a song. With ‘Deva Deva’, we have modernised the music, while keeping classical and devotional elements prominently. This spiritual song gives an otherworldly experience, and it was honestly enlightening to create it. I hope it’s a treat for everyone.”
